The
Bombay is a medium-sized, surprisingly heavy cat. Its coat is short,
silky, close-lying, and completely black. It is usually described as
resembling patent leather in appearance, which it certainly does at a
distance. Paw pads and nose leather are also black. The Bombay’s eyes
are unmistakable. They are round and wide-set, ranging
 |
in color
from gold to copper. The
Bombay has no variations.

Like its
cousins, the Burmese and Tonkinese, Bombays are affectionate cats that
crave companionship. They usually get along well with other cats and
dogs, but they have a tendency to |
want to be “top cat.” They are intelligent animals that seek
interaction with people and can often be taught to perform tricks. Bombays should not be
left alone for long periods.
