Eve

Eve on Computer MonitorIn 2005, Pittsburgh resident and computer consultant Lionel Deimel, who had been looking for a Tonkinese, took home GC Tangyi’s Evening Light of FrankLee, aka Eve, a three-year-old retired Bombay. After several weeks of getting acquainted with his new cat, Lionel wrote the poem below.

I got a cat

A new cat

A black cat

A shiny, short-hair cat

A black patent leather cat

A stark black-to-the-roots cat

I got a cat

A new cat

A round-eyed cat

A golden-iris cat

A copper-penny-eyed cat

A glowing-coals-in-the-darkness cat

I got a cat

A new cat

A swift cat

A fleeting-streak-across-the-floor cat

An elusive, black-hole-in-reality cat

A hiding-somewhere-in-the-house cat

I got a cat

A new cat

A lap cat

A cuddly cat

A firm, luxuriant-fur-piece cat

A nuzzly, purring, cat-on-my-chest cat

I got a cat

A new cat

A sleepy cat

A sprawled-across-the-rug cat

A draped-over-the-warm-monitor cat

A black, sweet-domestic-bliss cat
