Adjusting to a new household is a very stressful time for your new kitten, so keep him or her as comfortable as possible. Harper (Blue Solid)Isolate your kitten in a room until your veterinarian has checked your new arrival. This will help your kitten to get used to the different smells in its new home. Place a litter box, food, water, and cat toys in the room.

Keep the lids of your toilet seat down. The kittens are too small to get out of the water should they fall in. Also, kittens will try to climb everything, but jumping from high places can cause broken bones. Try as best you can to kitten-proof the area.

A scratching post is a good investment and helps your cats to sharpen their claws. Train your cat to use the post instead of your furniture. You can do this by taking your cat to the post and showing him or her to use the post by holding its little feet gently on the surface and moving its paws up and down.
